Curam Care: hire carers within hours

If you need carers ASAP, you need to try a website called Curam Care.

Recently one of my carers went off sick, so I needed to find someone to cover for them on short notice. I use an agency and hoped they would have someone to help. They didn’t. The best they could do was send someone the following week, which was not ideal. Thankfully, I found a website called Curam which was precisely what I needed.

Curam is a platform where people can advertise their care needs, and self-employed carers can apply to help anywhere in the UK. The great thing about it is you can find carers incredibly quick. I mean, within hours.

In comparison, getting a new carer through the agency would take weeks. Firstly, you must wait for someone to respond to the advert, which can take a couple of weeks. Then they need to do all the agency paperwork and training, which takes a couple more weeks.

I posted my care requirements on Curam, looking for someone to start the following day. Within an hour, I had 4 people applying who lived locally. It’s great that some carers are willing to work at short notice. If you have an emergency where a carer goes off sick and need cover ASAP, this website is fantastic.

I have found that I can’t rely on the agency to provide someone in an emergency. They just don’t seem to have spare people available. But it’s reassuring to know that there is a website where you can find carers at very short notice. Getting carers at short notice costs more, but it’s still cheaper than using an agency.

How does Curam work

Curam’s website is very user-friendly. I mostly used it on my PC, but they also have a mobile app. On your dashboard, you can see a list of carers. You can filter them by various parameters such as type of care, experience, gender, and qualifications.

On each carer’s page, you can see the following:

  • whether they have a DBS
  • their experience
  • their written profile
  • whether they have references
  • some have a video introducing themselves
  • their interests/hobbies
  • their rates

Once you have found a carer that you want and they have agreed to provide care, then they will create a service agreement. This states the service that they have agreed to provide. If you approve the service agreement, they will create a shift invoice so you can pay them. Payment is made through the platform, and the carer will receive the money 2 days after the shift has ended.

I think this is a good way of paying because it’s safer. If they get the money before their shift, they could take it and not turn up. Plus, the Curam recruitment team has interviewed every carer on the platform, and their DBS and qualifications have been checked.

Conclusion

Curam is a very useful option when you need a carer quickly, and you are able to pay for it. 2 weeks ago, I wasn’t aware that something like this existed, but I am so glad that it does. If you are looking for carers, whether to live in or during the day, I highly recommend trying out Curam. Definitely try it out if you need carers at short notice. On Trustpilot, Curam has 328 reviews, of which 90% are 4 or 5 stars, so it’s highly rated. I feel confident that the people on the site will do a good job and that it’s safe because they are vetted. The fact that you can hire people within hours is brilliant, in my opinion.
