Changing places toilets are the gold standard of disabled toilets, but unfortunately changing places are not everywhere. But they are increasing in number. There are 7 official changing places toilets in Lincoln.

Plus there are other disabled toilets with hoists in them but they are not officially changing places toilets. This is because they are not big enough to be classed as changing places toilets. But they are still very useful.

So in this post I’m going to provide a list of the locations of the Changing places toilets in Lincoln so you can easily find them. I will add to this list when more changing places toilets are built in Lincoln, or I discover more.

Changing Places Toilets in Lincoln

1. Lincoln Central Bus Station

I have inspected this toilet personally and it is indeed very good. As you would expect there is a ceiling hoist (which works), an adult sized changing bed, a centrally placed toilet, premises screens, and lots of lovely space. Enough to swing even the biggest of cats 360°. The toilet is locked with a fancy electronic key card system. You have to pay £5 at the information desk for a key card for the toilet. This is just a one-off payment and you can keep the card forever. I think the payment is reasonable for the toilets upkeep. Some may not agree. But at least we know that the toilet will not be abused.

2. The Showroom

This is another changing places toilets with lots of room and all the same facilities and equipment as the one above. The showroom venue itself is very good. It’s a modern building with lots of space and good wheelchair access. It’s a conference centre, but it also has space for activities and youth clubs.

3. Yarborough Leisure Centre

7. Linkage Boultham Park Education Centre

Location: Boultham Park Education Centre (part of Linkage College), Boultham Park Road, Lincoln, LN6 7SS

Opening times: Generally this is between 8.30am and 6pm Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 5pm at weekends.

The facility is available for the use of park visitors who are not able to use standard accessible toilets.

It is available when either the college or the Boultham Park Café are open and when the Education Centre is in use by the local community.

How to access the changing place

During Linkage College term times, access is available by going to the Education Block reception. A member of the reception team will open the internal swipe doors and show you to the facility. You will be asked to sign in and out.

When the college isn’t open, access is available through staff in the Boultham Park Café, who will escort you to the Education Centre.

Go through the gates which are to the side of the Boultham Park Café (near the outside seating area). Follow the path straight forward, past the cycle racks on your right hand side. Go through the gap and the Education Centre is in front of you on the left – the door is half way along the building.

Other Disabled Toilets with Hoists in Lincoln

the following disabled toilets have hoists in them and some have changing beds. But they are not classified as official changing places toilets because they big enough. They have enough space in them to be usable but not as much as official changing places toilets.

1. Victorian Prison, Lincoln Castle

Lincoln’s Victorian prison is located within the grounds of Lincoln Castle. There is a disabled toilet on the ground floor of the prison near the entrance which contains a ceiling hoist. If I remember rightly I don’t think there is a changing bed. When I go back I will check so I can confirm this.

2. Minerva Building, University of Lincoln Campus

This toilet is located on the ground floor of the Minerva building on the University of Lincoln campus. The building can be easily accessed by following a path coming just off the road. I think they building is open to the public so anybody should be able to use the toilet.

3. The Drill

the disabled toilet in The Drill has a ceiling hoist and an adult sized changing table. The toilet is a bit narrow and space is limited. But there is enough room to use the hoist and the changing bed so the space shouldn’t be a problem for most people.
