Elms Farm Cottages review

I recently stayed at Elms Farm Cottages (which I wrote about previously) and will be writing a review of my stay in this post.

About Elms Farm Cottages

Elms Farm Cottages is located 2 miles from Boston in Lincolnshire in a small village called Hubbert’s Bridge.

They have 10 award-winning holiday cottages in converted barns and stables, some of which are wheelchair accessible, with step-free access and wet rooms. The cottages are arranged around a courtyard area, and a lot of parking is out the front.

Nearby, there is a Tesco supermarket, a pub, and Boston is not far away. So it’s easy to go and get shopping or food delivered if you want.

Elm Cottage

I stayed in a cottage named Elm (they are all named after trees), and it was a very cosy place. Level access was throughout, with a self-catering kitchen, 3 bedrooms, and a living room area.

My room had an ensuite wet room with a roll-in shower, which was great. There was a good amount of space in the bedroom and bathroom. One improvement that could be made would be switching to wooden floors in the bedroom. My room was carpeted, which made pushing my shower chair more difficult, but that’s the only thing I would change.

We hired a gantry hoist from a separate company, which was set up in my room over the bed.

The living room area had a widescreen TV with Freeview, so Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Amazon Prime, and other channels were available. There was also a log burner in the living area, which was great when the weather was cold and made the place nice and cosy.

Out the back of Elm cottage, there is a patio area with seating and a fire pit. There’s also a hot tub, which can be booked, but I didn’t use it. There are steps to get into it, and there wasn’t a hoist that I would have needed to get into.

There are 18 acres of grassland around the cottages, with 2 small lakes for guests to wander around. These were nice to explore, although sometimes the ground was too wet for me to drive over, so I avoided them because I was worried about getting stuck in the mud.

They also have a large hall where weddings can be held called The Granary, but I didn’t go in there, so I’m not sure what it’s like.

The owners and everyone I met who worked there were lovely and helped with anything that they could.

Conclusion

Elms Farm Cottages is a great place to stay in the Boston area. Wheelchair access is not a problem; the accommodation is cosy and has everything you need. So I recommend taking a look if you are looking for an accessible place to stay in Lincolnshire.
