Persuasion Has Failed As a Way of Changing Attitudes

Last Updated on 17/11/2019 by Alex Squire

This  article from Disability Now  hits the nail on the head. Legislation such as  the equality act is not enforced, so Restaurants or music venues will not make themselves accessible unless disabled people complain.

It shows that the government is not serious about  improving accessibility for the disabled unless they enforce accessibility standards.

It’s a lack of enforcement which has left attitudes towards disabled people pretty much unchanged, argues Professor Mike Oliver, and initiatives such as the Government’s Disability Confident can never be more than a busted flush.
